The Taste of Summer

The Taste of Summer

The season is transitioning slowly but surely. Crops are slowing down and new crops are coming on!  I’m sad to see the raspberries go so soon, their time with us was short, sweet and a little tart. The raspberries were so fun to pick and very delectable. Bulk out season has commenced. Bulking a crop out means we harvest an entire crop once its fully mature and then store it in some fashion to then sell down over time. It’s usually a large undertaking with all hands on deck. We just bulked out all of our onions, which whoo man- it’s a lot of onions. Onion lovers unite; it’s a magnificent time for us. Currently, we are drying and curing them before we pack them away in storage. It’s always so exciting when new crops arrive and our bounty continues to expand.

The taste of summer is here and along with it brings such an array of colors that are vibrant and irresistible. Bell peppers and Italian peppers, cantaloupe, eggplant, purple cauliflower, lots and lots of tomatoes, and finally corn too! A summer staple, this crop has been highly anticipated here on the farm and I’m sure for you too. My recent veggie fav (though it’s so hard to choose, I love them all) is the Italian sweet peppers, so scrumptious!

Thank you for supporting us, it’s been a blast harvesting for you. May our harvests continue to be bountiful and pleasant and may you live well and find nourishment in your body and soul.
