Gratitude for Your Support

Gratitude for Your Support

As 2019 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on this momentous year with so much gratitude, appreciation and love. In May of this year, my daughter was born and life as I know it changed forever! The farm has always been “my baby” but being a mom to a real baby was a new adventure, and one in which I found I loved. The farm took a serious backseat in my life this year and the crew stepped up in every way imaginable to take on the load of filling in for me. They did a wonderful job!

Everyone who has worked here more than a year will tell you this was an unusual year. I usually work a lot and have my hands involved in all aspects of the farm. This year everyone on the farm rearranged themselves into new roles and responsibilities and pulled off a successful year. I am so appreciative that I got to take time off with my newborn and the farm kept moving forward.

I hope that all of you CSA members didn’t notice my absence at all (that was the goal!), and that you enjoyed your weekly produce and newsletters. You are a huge part of what keeps Red Dog Farm alive. The commitment you make to the farm in the spring secures our success through the season. And the support you give in terms of valuing local farms and food is unbeatable. I appreciate each and every one of you!

2020 certainly has some surprises in store for us, but honestly as I take stock and start to prepare for it, it looks pretty good! I’ll be back to work, not the insane number of hours I’m used to, but a moderate 40 hours will be great. Eight farm employees are returning – Woohoo! We’re in a good position to make the final minimum wage bump of the 2016 initiative to $13.50. I’d say the farm is stronger than ever before thanks to our wonderful employees and supportive community.

A HUGE Thank You to all of you for your support this year! We could not have done it without you! I hope that you all have a wonderful winter – full of good times with family, friends and food.

Much love,
Karyn
