Karyn Williams- Owner/ Operator
She/Her
Karyn’s farming career began in 1998 when she moved to Spain to WWOOF (international volunteer program) on organic farms. There she fell in love with the slower pace and exceptional food of the rural lifestyle. After two years abroad farming in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and England, Karyn returned to the U.S. to pursue a degree in agriculture. Karyn graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture.
Karyn has worked on vegetable farms, both cow and goat dairy farms, sheep farms, poultry operations, and a container plant nursery. After working on farms for seven years, in 2005, Karyn started her own farm business (Old Tarboo Farm) in Quilcene. After two years leasing land in Quilcene, she decided it was time to purchase her own piece of earth and began her search. In early 2007, Karyn found the piece of property which is now Red Dog Farm. Karyn started out leasing the land from Jefferson Land Trust in a creative lease to own ground lease agreement. In 2011, Karyn purchased the land.
Since her early farming days, Karyn has developed a true passion for production farming. She loves growing tons of vegetables to feed her community. Karyn’s life goals of health, community and sustainability keep her grounded in her farming path. When she’s not farming, Karyn enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, doing yoga and puttering in the kitchen.

Alex Pujol – Farm Manager
He/Him
Alex is passionate about supporting local businesses and eating food that was grown organically. His favorite tasks on the farm are leading transplant and harvesting cauliflower. When he’s not at Red Dog, Alex can be found in his personal garden or on a trail with his wife and two dogs!

Lane White – Production Manager
He/Him
Originally from Texas, Lane worked on produce and dairy farms in Oregon and New York before joining Red Dog Farm in 2016, where he has played a variety of important roles. His favorite task on the farm is breaking ground in the spring, and his favorite vegetable is cabbage.
Hannah Welch – Harvest Manager
They/Them
After growing up in Port Townsend, Hannah found their way into agriculture by facilitating nature-based counseling and therapy, and arrived at Red Dog in 2022. Hannah loves the variety of different tasks to be done on the farm and working outside. Off the farm, they enjoy making art, woodworking, dancing, and working to build alternatives to capitalism.
Rachel Covault – Office Manager
She/Her
Rachel grew up in Wisconsin, where her mom planted a respectably large vegetable garden and told stories of growing up on a farm in Michigan. Rachel fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula and its myriad hiking trails thirteen years ago and now spends as much time as possible hiking and getting to know the native plants in her garden, when she’s not hanging out with her two young nieces or her cats. On the farm, she enjoys the challenges of bringing organization to the sometimes chaotic world of farming. She believes that eating a fresh carrot is one of the greatest joys in life.

Paige Curry – Production Lead
She/Her
Paige has held a variety of roles at Red Dog Farm since 2019- Packed Lead, Farm Manager and now Production Lead. Her favorite task is cultivating on the Cub tractor. When not at the farm, she enjoys going for long walks, birding, cooking, exploring, and having quality time with friends and her dog, Callie. Her favorite produce is garlic and beets.
Viv Merrill – Packshed Lead
She/They
Viv grew up outside Seattle and worked at three other organic vegetable farms in Vermont and Washington before coming to Red Dog. She especially enjoys transplanting and seeding, and off the farm, making pottery and fiber crafts, reading, yoga, biking, and hiking. Her favorite vegetables are alliums.
Eddy Imbsweiler – Greenhouse Manager
They/Them
Taking care of baby plants and wishing them a happy life is Eddy’s purview and favorite task on the farm. After growing up in Atlanta, GA and WWOOFing in several states, they came to Red Dog in early 2023. Eddy is an avid backpacker and hiker, and also enjoys gardening, practicing yoga, and reading. Their favorite crop is yellow cherry tomatoes.
Marina DeMarco – Farmers Market Manager
She/Her
Marina came to us in 2024 after working with the Seattle Farmers Market Association, and now she creates beautiful produce displays at our farmers markets. She is also a musician who enjoys both performing and teaching music. She grew up in Big Bear, California, and says it’s so hard to choose a favorite vegetable, but she does especially like collards and dill.
Hailey Gibson – Irrigation Lead
She/Her
In her second season here at the farm, Hailey has become our go-to person for all things irrigation. She grew up near the coast of Washington and enjoys swimming in Puget Sound and local lakes, along with reading books in hammocks. Kale is her favorite vegetable to eat, but her favorite task on the farm is bulking out – harvesting every last plant in a succession, usually before putting them into storage.
Jon Toof – Maintenance Specialist
He/Him
Born in Portland, Maine, Jon joined our team in the summer of 2021 to help keep our trucks, tractors, and other farm equipment in working order. Fortunately, he enjoys changing oil. Outside work, he appreciates music and likes to write. Tomatillos are his favorite veggie.
Maggie
Maganita ‘Maggie’ Rose was born in the Spring of 2012 and is the daughter of red dog, Rupert, and a neighbor border collie. She was named after a much-loved lettuce variety we grow here on the farm. As a puppy, she spent hours napping in the greenhouse as we seeded her namesake lettuce on tables above her. Maggie takes her farm jobs very seriously; she specializes in alerting us when anyone comes onto the farm, and has also taken over bird-herding and rodent patrol duties.
Angus
Angus joined us at the start of the 2023 season and has excelled at tail wagging and stick chewing. He’s learning all about how to be a farm dog from his big sister Maggie.
Rupert
2005 – 2017. Rupert ‘Ru’ Dandelion was the red dog and the farm’s namesake. Rupert was a red border collie, a natural variation in the breed. He had been with Karyn since he was a pup and was named for the abundant golden yellow dandelions in bloom at that time. Rupert spent 13 wonderful years of farm life. He especially loved hanging out with Karyn in the fields, greeting every visitor to the farm, and herding anything that moved. He is dearly missed, though his legacy lives on in the farm, his daughter Maggie, and several other loved farm dogs in the area.
