Spring is Nearly Here

Spring is Nearly Here

Although it still feels like winter, I am finding myself longing for and anticipating spring. This warmer, wetter weather system feels like a blessing, thawing out the frozen ground and plants, recharging the ground water, filling the creek. The dry, sunny winter has been nice, but this rain of late feels comfortable and reassuring. As I look toward the creek, there are pools of standing water in all the lowest spots, which the seagulls, ducks and swans seem to be enjoying immensely. After the winter “drought”, the rain is a relief and a promise of an abundant season to come.

Giving Back

The 2013 CSA Scholarship program was a huge success! We had 11 donations for a total of $1165. Red Dog Farm matched that amount for a total of $2330 in CSA scholarships that were given to those in need. Eight families utilized the CSA scholarship to help off-set the CSA cost.
This year, we want to try to raise even more to be able to help more people have access to healthy, local, organic produce. Please consider making a donation if you are able.

Thanks for caring, giving, asking for help, and receiving!

Red Dog Bucks Program

Also known as Dog Bones, purchase these certificates at a 10% discount and redeem them for Red Dog Farm goods in the Farm Stand and at market. They never expire and make great gifts. Why bother? Well, when you purchase Dog Bucks in the pre-season, we get money during the time of year when we have no other source of income but expenses are really high. Buying Dog Bucks makes the farm’s cashflow work. Plus, you get to save money! We reward your commitment and caring gesture with a discount. Thanks for considering this option, especially if CSA is not for you, and/or you love shopping at market or Red Dog Farm Stand.
